The value and quantity is a record exported for the month of October this year. Corn exports reached US$ 1 billion, which represents 91.3% growth.
According to the Secretariat of Trade and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), the record corn harvest of almost 100 million tons was the main factor that enabled the increase in foreign sales of the cereal.
Another product that deserved to be highlighted in October's exports was cotton. Cotton exports (not carded or combed) reached US$ 440.73 million (+43.7%), corresponding to 273.4 thousand tons.
US$ 1.53 billion in meat was exported in October. Beef exports stood out, with record values and quantities, US$ 806.61 million (+30.4%) and 185,400 tons (+14.9%). Pork sales also rose, reaching US$ 148.51 million (+38.5%) and 67.1 thousand metric tons.
Agribusiness exports reached US$ 8.41 billion in October, up 0.8% over the US$ 8.35 billion in the previous month. The increase in exports was due to the growth in the quantity exported (+6.8%). On the other hand, the export price index fell 5.7% in comparison to October 2018.
Imports of agribusiness products also grew, from US$1.19 billion in October 2018 to US$1.21 billion in October 2019 (+1.3%).
